‘Ancient Memories’
Session 1
Drawing Foundations
Build confidence in drawing through simple exercises using pencil, charcoal, and white charcoal. Working in tonal ranges without color gives you a strong foundation of understanding and skill in being able to model form. Learn to see like an artist as you explore line, shape, value and texture while creating expressive drawings.
‘Light on Water’
Session 2
Movement of Water
Working somewhat abstractly with acrylic paints, texture paste, brush and palette knife, we feel our way through various movements of water. With an emphasis on color-mixing, discover how value change leads the eye and how texture can create visual excitement. The plan is to create 2 to 3 paintings in this 4-week session.
‘Threads of intention‘ flags & materials
Session 3
Threads of Intention
A contemplative collage workshop using both handmade papers and hand painted papers to create a string of personal intention flags. The first week, we will paint some papers for our flag(s) in acrylic paint. Next, we’ll assemble our handmade and painted papers onto a cord. The foundation is laid and now details can be added until it feels complete. All supplies included.
Art Lab Curriculum is based in drawing and painting.
Universal principles of art-making are incorporated into these lessons, while encouraging experimentation and discovery.
Each session is independent of each other. We will explore various media, throughout all of the classes, such as: pencil, pens, paints; (both watercolor & acrylics) and collage. These classes are meant to be easy-access that give students the solid foundation that all artists utilize in their creative expression!
Beginners are most welcome and more advanced students can take their knowledge to the next level.
*Small Materials list available upon registration…most supplies included.
Classroom space is limited so please register early to ensure a spot. Classes held at ASiF Studios.
*Cancellation policy: To be fair to instructor, 48 hours advance notice prior to the first day of class is requested in order to get a refund.
