CLAY & CREATIVE CLUB COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

🚀 Out of This World Clay Camp

Blast off into a cosmic clay adventure! In this imaginative space-themed camp, students create phases of the moon wall hangings, sculpt rockets or spaceships, and design their very own alien beings full of personality and strange intergalactic details. Using handbuilding techniques and colorful glazes, young artists explore outer space through creativity, storytelling, and hands-on clay building.

🧚 Fairy Garden Clay Camp

Step into a tiny magical world where imagination grows wild! In this whimsical clay camp, students create handmade fairy doors, windows, wells, garden accessories, and magical details designed to transform a tree stump, rock, planter, or outdoor nook into an enchanting fairy home. Each student builds a collection of unique ceramic pieces full of personality and charm, just in time to enter finished works in the County Fair! Students can continue expanding their fairy worlds in a companion mixed media class offered July 23–27.

🐾 Purrfect Partners Clay Camp

Celebrate the animals we love in this fun and heartwarming clay camp! Students create handmade ceramic pet figurines inspired by dogs, cats, bunnies, chickens, ducks, and other favorite animal companions. Using handbuilding techniques, young artists bring their furry and feathered friends to life while learning sculpture, texture, and personality-filled details.

🏺 Teen Intro to Pottery Camp

Students will learn the foundations of wheel throwing and functional ceramics while becoming familiar with basic pottery tools and studio equipment. This hands-on class covers essential techniques including centering, pulling walls, trimming, surface treatment, and glazing as students create their own handmade ceramic pieces from start to finish. Returning students are also welcome to use the class as independent studio practice time while continuing to build and refine their skills.

🌊 Under the Sea Clay Camp

Dive into an ocean inspired clay adventure! In this creative summer camp, students will focus on handbuilding techniques to create sea themed ceramic projects such as glowing fish tealight holders and sea turtle bowls while learning foundational pottery skills.

Students with previous pottery experience may also use camp time for independent practice to continue developing their wheel throwing and ceramic skills.

🧚 Fairy Garden Builders Mixed Media Camp

Create an enchanting fairy world using recycled, found, and natural materials! Students transform a tree stump, rock, planter, or outdoor container from home into a magical fairy house environment filled with handmade details like twig chairs, ladders, swings, tiny signs, acorn bowls, pathways, and more. This imaginative mixed media camp encourages creativity, resourcefulness, and outdoor-inspired design, and can be enjoyed on its own or paired with the Fairy Garden Clay Camp to expand their miniature world even further.

🏘️ Tiny Town Mixed Media Camp

Turn “too-good-to-throw-away” boxes into a one-of-a-kind miniature town! In this imaginative mixed media camp, students use recycled packaging materials they gather, like electronics boxes and other interesting containers, to design and build tiny homes, shops, and community buildings. Together we’ll plan our town layout, designate buildings, and create details like trees, signs, roads, and other miniature elements using paint and found materials. A creative, collaborative camp all about imagination, storytelling, and giving discarded materials a second life.
