OPENING RECEPTION: Friday, January 23, 5 - 7pm
Weekly Gallery hours are Thursday - Saturday, 11am - 4pm.

The Artists' Studio in the Foothills (ASiF) invites the public to its 17th Annual Resident Artist Show on Friday, January 23rd from 5 - 7pm - to be celebrated with wine, refreshments and a live musical performance by pianist, Gregory S. Young.

The gallery will feature artworks in a range of media by its twenty one studio artists - including oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, mixed media, paper mache, printmaking, pyrography, ceramic sculpture, pottery, handmade paper/fiber arts, jewelry/metal arts and more - plus twenty one individual art exhibits in each of the artist's private studios and shared community studio areas.

ART-INSPIRED POETRY: ASiF's 4th Annual EKPHRASTIC FANTASTIC!
As tradition will have it, ASiF's annual Resident Artist Show will serve as inspirational fodder for the center's, also annual - Ekphrastic Fantastic: Art-Inspired Poetry show in April. The word ekphrastic (which means poetry written about art) is the impetus for this special collaboration, now in its fourth year. This exciting collaboration, will feature a curated group of local and regional poets who've been invited to view and select artworks from the Resident Artist show - to serve as subjects for their "ekphrastic" poems. Once written, the ekphrastic poems will be printed and displayed on the gallery walls beside the artworks which inspired them. On Friday, April 3rd the public is invited to return for a seated reading of the ekphrastic poems - while ASiF Resident artists are tasked as "art runners" - to deliver their art to and from the stage as the ekphrastic poems are read aloud.

ASiF's annual Ekphrastic Fantastic: Art-Inspired Poetry Show is in collaboration with the Nevada County Arts Council and is an official fringe event of the Sierra Poetry Festival. The mission of this curated collaboration is to bring these two distinct and thriving Nevada County communities of visual artists and poets together to share and grow their mutually supportive audience.

ASiF’s 2026 Resident Artist Show will be on display through Saturday, March 16th.
Gallery hours: Thursday - Saturday, 11am - 4pm.
