Rene Spratting…
René fell in love with clay as a young girl before taking her first class at the age of 16 from her high school teacher, Richard Ketelle (one of the founding members of Feats of Clay). During the past fifty plus years she has continued developing her skills and aesthetic sense, participating in, and sometimes hosting workshops from artists such as Jack Troy, Tom Coleman, Vince Pitelka and Stephen Hill. She has taught many budding ceramicists along the way. From 1998 to 2007 she co-owned a gallery with Susan Steinbarth in Nevada City called Mostly Clay and Fine Crafts. There she became acquainted with many ceramic artists from Northern California, Oregon, Washington and across the US.

While mainly a functional potter, she also enjoys hand building and sculptural work. Working with clay all these years has been both a joyful dance and a challenging test, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, with many lessons learned, and, she hopes, many more to come.
