Smallworks in the Foothills Holiday Show…
Smallworks Holiday Show - Art Submission Criteria & Size Limits…
ASiF has high standards for finishing and framing of works. Please read all art specifications that pertain to clean professional finishing and framing, front and back!
SIZE LIMITATIONS:
Two dimensional works must be no larger than 12.5 inches (in all directions) including the mat and frame.
Three dimensional works must be no larger than 432 cubic inches (example:6x6x12 inches)
Exceptions: Artworks measuring under 6 inches in one direction may exceed the 12.5 inch limit so long as they don't exceed a 50 inch perimeter total.
SCULPTURAL / 3D WORKS...
In order to protect gallery furnishings, any sculptural works with abrasive bottoms to be displayed on pedestals, shelves or tabletops, will require felt, rubber or cork padding for their bottoms! Works which need assembly will require the artist's help for display in the gallery.
FRAMING & OTHER 2D SPECS...
For artists submitting two-dimensional works:
As always, framing and professional finishing is very important to the look and feel of our shows. For unframed canvases... please, no exposed staples on sides. Sides should be considered and finished in some manner unless it is an intentional part of the composition to be left unfinished. Collage work must use original imagery (see "original Art Work" section below) and covered with several layers of medium so that collaged element edges are not detectible.
Hanging wires are mandatory and should be attached in such a way that the frames seat flat against the wall.
No cheap store-bought frames with stands that don't seat flat against the wall when hung.
Backs must be clean and professional.
No warped canvases.
No sloppy cut, discolored or dirty mats.
Archival, acid free materials only
Professionally finished backings: no rigged or taped backs please!
Works must be for sale, dry and ready for display
IDENTIFICATION:
Accepted artworks must be labeled with artist's name, medium and title. Artists are required to fill out a consignment entry form with all pertinent information, and follow instructions given on the form for labeling and delivering artworks. The original consignment form must remain in the consignment binder! If you would like a copy for your records, please make an extra copy for yourself! A downloadable consignment entry form is available at the top of this page.
ORIGINAL ART WORK...
Original art work/imagery only. No use of other artist's images as printed, collaged elements. Exceptions: Vintage images acting as embellishment to original compositions.
No giclee prints of original paintings, fine art prints, etc. will be displayed on main gallery walls unless they are enhanced (contact Amanda for clarification).
Photographs are by nature an exception to this rule. Artists are encouraged to offer giclee prints and or cards in print and card racks in the gift gallery.
