A special summer class for young artists who love their Manga! (Manga is a Japanese word referring both to comics and cartooning.)
In this summer class, participants will receive guidance on developing their own characters! It's all about learning to draw people: faces, eyes, hair, hands, bodies....but we draw them in the Manga-style with the large emotive eyes and stylized hair. This class is open to all levels.

Drawing 101 and Colored Pencil Mondays with Denise Wey:
This drawing class is for kids who just love to draw and want to improve their skills. We cover drawing basics such as 3D shading and add color to our artwork! All ages and skill levels can benefit according to their experience and there's often free exploratory time after the lesson to use as the student wishes.
Drawing Manga Tuesdays with Denise Wey:
Manga is a Japanese word referring both to comics and cartooning. (Animae is the animated version of Manga) In this class, we'll spend a bit more time learning to draw Manga bodies, hands, feet, heads etc but also the furry bodies of some Manga-style characters with the large emotive eyes and furry ears that are a cross between us humans and our pets.
Mini Masterpieces in Acrylics Thursdays with Eileen Blodgett:
This colorful and fun 6 week painting course helps students practice the skills of brushwork; line, texture, shadows, reflections, light and more by working with the instructor to complete several mini masterpiece paintings on canvas in this session. We will be inspired by some of our favorite master painters along the way. We will be practicing basic painting skills to create our masterpieces and fostering each child’s personal style. Beginners and returning students are welcome to join us in the painting studio! All materials are included.

Manga Club (Animae) Tuesdays with Denise Wey:
Manga is a Japanese word referring both to comics and cartooning. (Animae is the animated version of Manga) The Manga Club is a place to come to work and receive guidance on developing your own characters in your own style! It's all about learning to draw people: faces, eyes, hair, hands, bodies....but we draw them in the Manga-style with the large emotive eyes and stylized hair. Drawing people takes practice and patience but it’s is a very worthwhile skill to have if you love to draw!
Acrylic Painting Adventures Thursdays with Eileen Blodgett:
We will be painting with acrylics on real canvas!
Roll up your sleeves and put on an apron and let’s paint! Guided drawing and composition are introduced and practiced before the painting fun begins. Young artists learn and practice color mixing and brushwork skills; showing light, shadows, reflections, blending, and more by working with the instructor to complete several paintings in this 6 week session. Each class is dedicated to practicing specific skills to become a better painter. Great for beginning painters and returning students too! All materials are included.
Many of the ARTsCOOL instructors are involved in the new county-wide Arts Council program, "Artists in the Schools" (AIS) and all are professional artists with many years dedicated to the Arts.
